Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction

We are seeking a driven Project Engineer to support heavy civil infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, roadways, paving, utilities, and public works construction throughout Texas. The Project Engineer will assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project coordination, documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, and field operations to help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on TXDOT or municipal infrastructure projects and possess strong organizational, communication, and technical skills within a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the execution of heavy civil construction projects.
  • Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, budgeting, and production reporting.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and contract documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, material tracking, and daily production reporting.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel to maintain project schedules and workflow.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Track and maintain project logs, schedules, and documentation systems.
  • Support field operations by conducting site walks, inspections, and progress verification.
  • Coordinate with TXDOT representatives, consultants, engineers, and utility companies.
  • Assist with pay applications, invoice processing, and project closeout documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality control requirements.
  • Help identify and resolve project issues impacting schedule, budget, or productivity.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Internship or field experience with roadway, bridge, paving, utility, or DOT projects is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HCSS, B2W, AGTEK, or similar construction software preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn field operations.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
