Senior Project Finance Director

About the Role
We are exclusively mandated on a landmark $1.5 billion oil drilling project currently under construction in Texas. Our client is seeking a Senior Project Finance Director to lead the structuring, execution, and coordination of all financing activities across Europe and the US. You will play a pivotal role in liaising with a diverse group of stakeholders, including European banks, international lenders, legal teams (internal & external), technical advisors, and project sponsors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structuring and execution of project financing activities (debt/equity) in Europe and the US.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all financial counterparties including European banks, DFIs, ECAs, and private lenders.
- Coordinate across legal, technical, and financial workstreams to ensure smooth execution of financing and construction timelines.
- Manage financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee due diligence processes and negotiate key project finance documentation (term sheets, loan agreements, intercreditor agreements, etc.).
- Report to senior leadership and sponsors on financing progress, risks, and key milestones.
- Interface with EPC contractors and internal engineering teams to align financing structure with project needs.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in project finance, preferably in the energy, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale project financings (USD 500m+).
- Experience working with both European (especially Hungarian/Polish) and US financial institutions.
- Deep understanding of legal and technical coordination in project finance environments.
- Strong network with banks, DFIs, ECAs, and legal firms active in project finance.
- Excellent project management, stakeholder coordination, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly across Europe and the US
