Mechanical Project Manager (HVAC)

About the Role

A rapidly growing mechanical services contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join their delivery team. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can drive projects from early planning through to successful handover.

You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining strong client relationships and high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of mechanical project delivery from pre-construction through completion
  • Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans
  • Liaise with design, engineering, BIM, procurement, QA, and site teams to ensure coordinated project execution
  • Monitor progress using internal project control systems and ensure compliance with reporting procedures
  • Conduct regular site visits to review performance, safety compliance, workmanship, and programme status
  • Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including contract administration and performance management
  • Oversee financial performance, including cost control, cash flow management, and value engineering initiatives
  • Ensure all works comply with mechanical standards, building regulations, and health & safety legislation
  • Prepare weekly progress updates for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Produce monthly commercial and programme reports for senior leadership
  • Collaborate with directors and senior management to support business objectives and strategic planning
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and external stakeholders to support repeat business and long-term partnerships

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing mechanical or HVAC construction projects at Project Manager or Contracts Manager level
  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer is highly desirable
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC and process installations
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with strong budgeting and cost control experience
  • Comfortable working under pressure to meet programme deadlines
  • Willingness to travel within Europe as required
  • Full driving licence
