Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Manufacturing Engineer to drive process excellence and lead key production initiatives across our aerospace and defence manufacturing operations. This is a pivotal role focused on delivering manufacturing solutions that meet stringent quality, cost, and delivery targets in a regulated, high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for new and existing aerospace and defence products.
- Act as technical authority on manufacturing engineering, guiding a team of engineers and technicians.
- Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacture (DfM).
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives across production lines.
- Implement and sustain robust manufacturing KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, and other relevant industry standards and customer requirements.
Required Skills
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering leadership role within aerospace, defence, or similarly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of precision manufacturing techniques, composite materials, and assembly processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of lean principles, Six Sigma, and modern manufacturing methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and CAD/CAM software.
