Head of Transactions (Wind and PV)

About the Role
The Head of Transactions will lead all transactional activities for the company’s wind and solar PV portfolio across Europe. This role focuses primarily on sell-side transactions (c.75%), including project divestments, joint ventures, and portfolio optimization, while also supporting select buy-side activities (c.25%) such as strategic acquisitions and pipeline expansion.
The successful candidate will be a proven dealmaker with deep sector expertise, capable of driving complex negotiations, structuring deals, and delivering value in a dynamic renewable energy market.
Key Responsibilities
Sell-Side
- Lead and execute divestment processes for wind and PV assets (operational and under development).
- Manage end-to-end transaction execution: asset preparation, financial modeling, data room management, due diligence coordination, valuation, and negotiations through closing.
- Develop and maintain relationships with investors, utilities, infrastructure funds, and strategic partners.
- Support capital recycling strategies to fund growth and optimize portfolio returns.
- Coordinate with internal technical, legal, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution and compliance.
- Lead joint venture and co-development deal structuring, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
Buy-Side
- Identify and evaluate strategic acquisition opportunities in the wind and PV sectors across Europe.
- Lead due diligence and valuation for M&A targets and pipeline acquisitions.
- Support integration planning and stakeholder management for acquired projects.
- Monitor market trends and maintain competitive intelligence on M&A activity and asset valuations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in M&A, project finance, or corporate development, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- Proven track record of leading transactions (sell-side and buy-side) in wind and/or solar PV assets across European markets.
- Solid understanding of project finance structures, PPAs, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and external advisors (banks, legal, technical).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at C-suite and investor levels.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- English and German fluency
