Field Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction

We are seeking a motivated Field Engineer to support field operations across heavy civil infrastructure projects throughout Texas, including highways, bridges, paving, drainage, and utility construction.

This position will work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and field crews to support daily construction activities, production tracking, quality control, and project coordination.

The ideal candidate will thrive in fast-paced construction environments and preferably have exposure to TXDOT or municipal infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily field operations on heavy civil construction projects including roadway, bridge, paving, utility, and drainage work.
  • Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with project coordination and production tracking.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure field compliance.
  • Perform quantity tracking, daily reporting, and documentation of completed work.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and crews to maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct field measurements, layout verification, and site inspections.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, as-builts, and project documentation management.
  • Monitor material deliveries, equipment usage, and workforce productivity.
  • Support quality control efforts including inspections, testing coordination, and compliance verification.
  • Ensure adherence to project safety requirements and company policies.
  • Coordinate with TXDOT inspectors, engineers, utility companies, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist with project scheduling updates and short-term planning activities.
  • Identify and communicate field issues or potential delays to project leadership.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Internship or field experience on roadway, bridge, utility, or paving projects is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HCSS, AGTEK, or related construction software preferred.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in active construction environments.
  • Ability to travel to project sites throughout Texas as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
