Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Data Centers

About the Role
A fast-growing electrical design-build firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer with strong data center expertise to support the delivery of complex, mission-critical projects across the U.S.
This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on commissioning high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems. You will act as the on-site electrical lead, coordinating with owners, contractors, and project teams to deliver safe, reliable, and fully commissioned facilities from L1–L5.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical commissioning activities from planning through closeout (L1–L5)
- Verify installations against BOD, OPR, applicable codes, and manufacturer requirements
- Perform functional, performance, load bank, and power quality testing
- Execute protection and coordination testing (SCCS)
- Develop commissioning scripts, load soak plans, and daily / final reports
- Act as on-site electrical lead, chairing daily meetings with Owners, GCs, and Electrical Contractors
- Oversee QA/QC processes, safety compliance (NFPA 70E, OSHA), and commissioning documentation
- Train operations and maintenance teams prior to handover
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- 3–5+ years’ experience commissioning data center electrical systems
- Strong technical knowledge of HV substations, MV/LV switchgear, UPS, generators, busway, PDUs, and RPPs
- Experience developing commissioning scripts, testing procedures, and technical reports
- Proficient with CAD, Bluebeam, and related tools
- OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E certification (or ability to obtain)
- Willingness to travel nationally and work on active construction sites
