Department Head of Onshore Operations – Wind & Solar (m/f/d)

We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to join our renewable energy team as the Department Head of Onshore Operations. In this role, you will oversee the full operational lifecycle of wind and solar assets across Germany, managing cross-functional teams and driving performance from development to decommissioning. This is a key leadership position with technical, commercial, and stakeholder responsibility.

Operational Oversight & Team Leadership

• Oversee and align department leads across Wind Project Development, Solar Project Development, Construction, and Asset Operations.
• Monitor KPIs and provide technical leadership across all lifecycle stages of renewable energy assets.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration across engineering, legal, finance, and compliance teams.
• Build, manage, and mentor high-performing teams, encouraging accountability and knowledge sharing.

Asset Management & Performance Optimization

• Act as the senior authority for day-to-day operations and long-term performance of wind and solar farms.
• Oversee performance monitoring systems and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Use operational data to optimize asset reliability, efficiency, and commercial returns.

Strategic & Technical Direction

• Define the technical and commercial roadmap for renewable portfolios, including wind, solar, and emerging technologies such as BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems).
• Lead the development of financial models, board-level reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Direct investment prioritization, risk management, budgeting, and grid integration strategies.
• Provide wind-specific expertise across permitting, compliance, and technical delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, developers, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Build and maintain partnerships to drive technology adoption and pipeline growth.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, technical working groups, and public forums.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy operations, including wind and solar.
• Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary teams across development, construction, and asset management.
• Strong understanding of the German energy market, including permitting, grid access, and regulatory compliance.
• Deep technical knowledge of wind energy; experience with solar PV and BESS is highly desirable.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Skilled in stakeholder communication, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic planning.
