Senior Robotics Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Robotics Engineer to join our innovative team in France. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced robotic systems for satellite missions. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate robotic technologies that enhance satellite functionality, operational efficiency, and autonomy in space environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of robotic systems for satellite applications, including manipulators, autonomous vehicles, and mobile robotics.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to define robotic system requirements, architecture, and interfaces for various satellite missions.
  • Develop algorithms for robot perception, motion planning, control, and autonomous decision-making in challenging space environments.
  • Conduct simulations and modeling to evaluate robotic performance, using tools such as ROS (Robot Operating System), MATLAB, or other simulation software.
  • Oversee the integration of robotic systems with satellite subsystems, ensuring seamless operation and communication between systems.
  • Lead testing and validation efforts for robotic systems, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and field trials.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior robotics engineers, promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.
  • Stay current with advancements in robotics, automation, and space technologies, integrating new methodologies and technologies into ongoing projects.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in robotics engineering, with a focus on aerospace applications or related fields.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or ROS, with experience in developing software for robotic systems.
  • Proficiency in robotics simulation tools and frameworks, including Gazebo, V-REP, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of control systems, kinematics, and dynamics as they pertain to robotic systems.
  • Experience with sensor integration, including cameras, LIDAR, and other perception systems used in robotic applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with autonomous systems and machine learning techniques applied to robotics.
  • Knowledge of space robotics applications, including satellite servicing, docking, and maintenance operations.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies to support project delivery and team coordination.
