Senior / Principal Mechanical / Optical Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• From concept to production, oversee the creation and development of HUD systems for clients in the automotive industry.
• Based on client demands and technical specifications, develop system requirements and specifications.
• Perform mechanical and optical design tasks, such as optomechanical design and tolerance analysis.
• Collaborate with software and electrical engineering teams to integrate optical and mechanical systems with other vehicle systems.
• To ensure that parts and components adhere to design specifications, are provided on time, and are within budget, work closely with suppliers and vendors.
• Lead system integration and testing, including lab testing and field testing.
• To find chances for design optimisation and improvement, analyse test and experiment data.
• Work with customers to understand their needs and requirements and ensure that the HUD system meets their expectations.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in optical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in optical and mechanical design, with a focus on HUD systems.
• Strong understanding of optical principles and design, including lens design, optical coatings, and illumination systems.
• Proficiency in optical modeling and design tools, such as Zemax, Code V, or similar.
• Experience in optomechanical design and analysis, including tolerance analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and thermal analysis.
• Familiarity with HUD display technologies and systems, such as LCOS, DLP, or OLED displays.
• Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing suppliers and vendors.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
