Senior Power Electronics Engineer - California
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and layout of substrates, circuit boards, and electrical interconnects/bus structures
- Supports best techniques/procedure and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures
- Provide technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations to the product development team
- Conduct the electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs
- Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, and verification of power electronics products.
- Specify, identify, select, and test of key, critical electrical components
- Documents and shares best-practices
- Work with the programme team and systems engineers to ensure that requirements are properly assigned and to verify those needs that are assigned to the electrical competency
- Create power electronics circuits and systems using electrical design, simulation, and analysis to satisfy technical product requirements
- Develop an optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solution utilizing balanced requirements to meet schedule, technical and cost constraints
- Recognize the parts and operations of the vehicle’s systems that interact with the power electronics subsystem and related systems. Engineering and application engineering are used to look into problems with vehicle systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years’ experience required in automotive electronics product development
- Engineering internship experience in a manufacturing/engineering industry preferred
- Familiar with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Power Electronics circuits design, specifically motor drive inverters, using components such as MOSFETS, SCR, IGBT, BJT, etc
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of engineering theories related to designated engineering function and applying those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a focus on Electronics and/or Hardware required
- Knowledge of designing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls preferred
- Modelling, simulating, and testing of power electronics through tools like PSIM, MATLAB, ORCAD/PSPICE, LTspice, etc
