Senior Grid Connection Engineer
Main Mission Defined in One Sentence:
The High Voltage and Very High Voltage Connection Engineer is responsible for organizing, executing, and ensuring the smooth running of operations related to the connection of photovoltaic projects, under the direct responsibility of the Operations Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the lead for connections of photovoltaic plants to the (HTA) and (HTB) electrical network, you will:
- Analyse, in collaboration with the mapping teams, the areas most suitable for connections.
- Implement tools to estimate and optimise the connection costs of large photovoltaic plants.
- Ensure compliance with technical references for connections and sizing of HTA and HTB electrical substations.
- Manage the electrical engineering (design, calculations, equipment) of HTA and HTB substations and oversee specialised service providers and consulting firms.
- Ensure factory and site acceptance of HTA and HTB substations, coordinating electrical and safety tests with the network manager, service providers, and regulatory bodies.
- Oversee connection processes with network managers (Enedis, RTE) until commissioning.
- Supervise studies and authorisations for the establishment of private HTB/HTA substations, as well as negotiations with other energy producers.
- Optimise the technical and financial solutions regarding connections proposed by network managers (including electrical links and protections, harmonics management, and reactive power management) and suggest alternative solutions.
- Act as the technical reference for connections, facilitating communication with the company’s internal services at each project stage (Development, Construction, and Maintenance).
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with network managers (Enedis, RTE, etc.) and producer unions (SER, France Renouvelables, etc.).
- Stay informed on technical and regulatory developments concerning electrical connections and storage.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of the company and its environment.
- Solid knowledge of HTA and HTB electrical engineering (preferably with a network manager, consulting firm, developer, or energy supplier).
- Proficiency in industry software: QGIS, AutoCAD.
- Strong IT skills and proficiency in standard office applications.
