Senior Design Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams through all project phases (from concept to IFC).
- Develop and manage design delivery programs, milestones, and key deliverables in alignment with overall project schedules.
- Act as primary interface between the design team and the client, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure technical design aligns with performance goals—resilience, sustainability, energy efficiency, and operational uptime (e.g., Tier III/IV).
- Manage design change processes, risk registers, and coordination workshops (e.g., BIM clashes, interface resolution).
- Work closely with commercial and project controls teams to monitor scope, budget, and change impacts.
- Promote a culture of design excellence, innovation, and digital delivery (e.g., BIM, data-driven design).
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Chartered or working toward chartership (CIBSE, RIBA, ICE, etc.) preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in design/project management, with a minimum of 3 years in data centre or mission-critical environments.
- Proven ability to lead integrated design teams on large-scale, complex technical projects.
- Strong understanding of data centre design drivers: power, cooling, redundancy (N+1, 2N), scalability, and security.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, TIA-942, and BICSI.
- Experience working with digital tools: BIM (Revit/Navisworks), scheduling (MS Project/Primavera), and collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM360).
