Head of Production Planning
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize production planning software and tools to manage and optimize production schedules, resource allocation, and capacity planning
- Direct and guide a group of production planners, offering direction, instruction, and performance criticism
- Create and oversee the production planning strategy to satisfy client requests and production targets
- Create consistent reports on the performance of the manufacturing process, capacity utilisation, and production variation analysis
- Evaluate production processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase overall productivity
- Create and maintain a production schedule that maximizes efficiency while minimizing lead times and costs
- Collaborate with quality control and assurance teams to ensure that production processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Analyze production data and key performance indicators to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute insights to strategic planning and decision-making processes
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure that equipment, materials, and manpower are available as needed for production activities
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, procurement, and operations teams to gather demand forecasts and ensure production plans align with market requirements
- Implement best practices for inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels without excessive inventory carrying costs
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners to ensure timely delivery of materials and components
- Monitor production progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to resolve issues and maintain production flow
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain, industrial engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, and supply chain management, with progressively increasing responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, capacity planning, and demand forecasting.
- Proficiency in using production planning software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
