Fuel Cell System Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead / support Global Product Development milestone reviews of the system definition, requirements, and capability
- Identify and specify the fundamental specifications for new design projects, pre-calculations of new designs, and product cards for the following design stages, taking into account function, costs, timing, weight, and packaging
- Define the powertrain architecture and cascade system targets to meet vehicle attributes
- Create and show system trade-off analyses to get management’s guidance
- Assist and collaborate with the Design, Project, and Program partners to make sure the FCEV Powertrain System is completed on schedule and on budget
- Lead definition, development, sizing, requirements of fuel cell electric powertrain systems to meet program targets
- Produce systems documentation including architecture and functional diagrams
- To ensure a thorough grasp of how a component will be manufactured, define jigs and tooling, define costs, and make an implementation plan accessible, plan the process, detail planning costs, and implement timing for released CAD drawings
- Capture lessons learned from previous programs and implement these actions in upcoming programs
- Review and update power-pack sizing and trade-off studies for optimal attribute/cost balance.
SOME REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to communicate (written and verbally) in English and German,
- Strong knowledge and experience with automotive design and engineering processes gained at either a Tier 1 automotive supplier or an automotive OEM
- A technical degree in Automotive Engineering or related area
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience in program planning, program management, powertrain component, or systems design
- Project management experience with experience of taking a project from concept to SOP
- Able to concisely communicate technical knowledge in executive reviews
- Excellent teamwork and partnership abilities; self-driven; eager to accept responsibility and produce results with little oversight
- Expertise in production processes, materials, and technical documentation (design, layout, drawing, dimensioning, and tolerances)
- Capability to develop design targets and performance metrics for fuel cell systems
- Capability to develop systems requirements for fuel cell applications (e.g. Range-Extenders) • Strong in regulatory requirements
- Strong knowledge in vehicle control system architecture
- Strong fundamentals in fuel cell working principles
- Knowledge on state of the art fuel cell electrical components (Fuel cell stacks, Air handling, Battery, E-Motor, Inverter, Charger).
