Material Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials used in manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained to avoid disruptions in production.
- Develop and implement inventory control processes to minimize waste and reduce costs while ensuring production requirements are met.
- Collaborate closely with the sales and customer service teams to review customer orders and align them with available materials and production schedules.
- Monitor the order processing lifecycle from receipt to delivery, ensuring smooth transitions between departments (e.g., sales, production, logistics).
- Act as the primary point of contact for resolving any material-related issues in customer orders, including discrepancies, delays, or quality concerns.
- Work directly with customers to manage their material-related inquiries, requests, and issues.
- Provide regular updates to customers on the status of their orders and proactively communicate any potential delays or issues.
- Implement best practices and process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to materials management and customer order fulfillment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of materials handling and inventory management staff.
- Ensure team members are well-trained in inventory systems, order management software, and operational processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma, or similar) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, Order Management or supply chain roles within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience working directly with customer orders and collaborating with sales, customer service, and production teams.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and how material requirements translate into production schedules.
- Experience using materials management software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
