About the Role
A rapidly growing mechanical services contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join their delivery team. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can drive projects from early planning through to successful handover.
You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining strong client relationships and high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of mechanical project delivery from pre-construction through completion
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans
- Liaise with design, engineering, BIM, procurement, QA, and site teams to ensure coordinated project execution
- Monitor progress using internal project control systems and ensure compliance with reporting procedures
- Conduct regular site visits to review performance, safety compliance, workmanship, and programme status
- Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including contract administration and performance management
- Oversee financial performance, including cost control, cash flow management, and value engineering initiatives
- Ensure all works comply with mechanical standards, building regulations, and health & safety legislation
- Prepare weekly progress updates for clients and internal stakeholders
- Produce monthly commercial and programme reports for senior leadership
- Collaborate with directors and senior management to support business objectives and strategic planning
- Build strong working relationships with clients and external stakeholders to support repeat business and long-term partnerships
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing mechanical or HVAC construction projects at Project Manager or Contracts Manager level
- Previous experience as a Project Engineer is highly desirable
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC and process installations
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects simultaneously
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
- Commercially aware with strong budgeting and cost control experience
- Comfortable working under pressure to meet programme deadlines
- Willingness to travel within Europe as required
- Full driving licence
