About the Role
An established global infrastructure and technology organization is seeking an experienced Data Center Construction Manager to oversee the execution of complex, high-performance AI GPU data center builds. Based in Austin, Texas, this role will manage the daily on-site operations of both greenfield and brownfield projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across large-scale construction programs.
You will coordinate contractors, vendors, and trades across multiple geographies to deliver facilities that meet world-class standards in power, cooling, and reliability, while ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership
- Lead day-to-day field operations across multiple concurrent data center construction projects.
- Oversee and enforce a zero-incident safety culture across all subcontractors and trades.
- Coordinate CSA and MEP teams, resolving technical and scheduling conflicts in real time.
- Verify field QA/QC compliance, material submittals, RFIs, and change-order processes.
Project Control & Delivery
- Build and manage detailed construction schedules (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Track and report daily progress, resource loading, and earned value performance.
- Develop scopes of work, bid packages, and technical exhibits for critical trades.
- Manage construction contracts from award to close-out, ensuring budget, schedule, and scope compliance.
- Collaborate with Design, Procurement, Commissioning, and Operations teams for seamless project handovers.
Performance & Risk Management
- Monitor contractor performance, deliverables, and adherence to site protocols.
- Identify potential risks and implement proactive mitigation and recovery plans.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and field best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent).
- 7+ years of experience managing hyperscale, semiconductor, or mission-critical construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of CSA and MEP systems, construction sequencing, and procurement workflows.
- Proven track record delivering fast-track, large-scale projects across multiple regions.
- Familiarity with OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, and local permitting and safety codes.
- Excellent subcontractor management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to read BIM/Revit models and interpret IFC drawings on the fly.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to active project sites.
