About the Role
A global Tier-1 automotive supplier is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to manage engineering development for advanced technical plastic components, including air-intake systems and e-mobility solutions. Acting as the technical point of contact for the customer, you’ll lead cross-functional engineering efforts from concept through industrialization, supporting global teams and complex product lifecycles.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical development in assigned projects, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and internal standards
 - Collaborate with project managers and functional teams (process, quality, purchasing)
 - Develop product plans, risk analysis (D-FMEA), validation protocols, and cost estimates
 - Support quotations, feasibility assessments, and design concept evaluations
 - Coordinate cross-border engineering with France-based Centers of Competence
 - Support production relocation and change management planning
 - Maintain engineering master data and ensure up-to-date documentation (CIM)
 - Engage in concept brainstorming, benchmarking, CAD drafting, and design validation
 - Contribute to patent generation and manage intellectual property documentation
 
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s a plus)
 - 6+ years’ experience in automotive plastics, particularly under-the-hood components
 - Expertise in injection molding, welding (e.g. ultrasonic, vibration), and assembly processes
 - Proficiency in CAD and engineering tools for tolerance stacks, simulations, etc.
 - Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
 - Global team collaboration experience and flexibility for cross-time zone meetings
 - Fluent in English (additional languages a plus); strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint
 - Willingness to travel (approx. 10%), including domestic and to Mexico
